David Lynch has been hailed by The Guardian as “the most important director of this era”. Having earned such prestige in the visual field, Lynch is now turning his talents to the eclectic world of electronic music. His debut tracks have been picked up by Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best label and are available to be downloaded from iTunes from the 29th November. Like his filmic opus; ‘Good Day Today’ and its double A-side ‘I Know’ are stamped with Lynch’s characteristic nightmarish, dreamlike visions, all wrapped up in a cover sleeve designed by Vaughan Oliver- the artist responsible for the artwork fronting albums by the Pixies, Cocteau Twins and 4AD.

There is another creative aspect to Lynch’s debut electro-launch. He has invited aspiring directors to create short films to be used as the official promotional music videos for his tracks: contestants can upload their creations onto the site and the 10 best entries will be sent to Mr Lynch himself for appraisal. You can watch his personally delivered brief here or preorder a three panel gatefold vinyl or deluxe CD here.
